Description/Blazon
A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of two red broad arrows horizontally counterwise the upper one pointing left with the barbs conjoined end to end at center and each emitting a gold flash around the shank and terminating at the barbs, on and within an open black scroll which extends around the base and bears the inscription "FAITHFUL AND VIGILANT" in gold letters.

Symbolism
Scarlet and gold are the colors used for Artillery.  The arrow is a symbol of a determined direction and carries the implication of command.  The arrows are used to represent all artillery missiles and allude to air defense.  The flashes are used to refer to all military electronic communications and are all conjoined to signify the coordinated efficiency of the unit.  The arrangement of the two arrows and the flashes simulates the numerical designation (28) of the organization.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 28th Artillery Group on 18 September 1968.  It was redesignated for the 28th Air Defense Artillery Group on 5 April 1972.
